NEWS
  • What we supported this month

At each monthly meeting, any appeals for support which the club has received will be discussed and the appropriate steps taken according to the view of the majority of those present.   Have a look at How we Serve our community.

  • Motorama

Motorama is an annual event which normally sees 100+ classic and specialist vehicles being parked up in the Market Place and surrounding streets bringing an amazing blaze of colour and nostalgia to Olney.   Take this link  for some more information about the event or click here  to have a look at some of the vehicles from a previous year.  If you are a classic car owner and would like to join us in future years, drop us a note via our  contact us  page, give us details of your enquiry - and one of our members will get back to you.

  • The Lions Toast

A regular income generator is our Lions Toast Whisky Tasting events. Organised by a retired Club Member, we have had speakers from many distilleries, the odd fun event (Malt at the Movies) and tasted a wide range of whiskies, many which are rarely available locally.
If you are interested in finding out more about the past events have a look at our Lions Toast page
If you would like to be kept informed about future events, please let us have your contact details via our contact us page

  • Dickens of a Christmas

Whilst the Dickens event is organised by Olney Town Council, our Craft Fayres have become a major feature of the event.  Government regulations, OTC rules and the co-operation of our site owners will hopefully come together and enable us to continue where we left off in 2021.   Please come back to the site on a regular basis to keep up with the situation.

Want to join us at our next Craft event?
If you want onto our mailing list simply go to our contact page and leave us your contact details and some information of your craft. We will add you to our list which ensures you find out about any future events we are able to put on.

Please note Only items which have been handcrafted by the stallholder or a known friend can be brought to the event - no wholesale/retailing is acceptable and certainly no pre made Vintage Goods (whether second hand or 'new').

  • Friends of Lions

Could you be a "Friend of Lions"?
Many of the events we organise take more manhours to cover than our existing club has available via our members meaning that we can only carry these out with the support of our Friends group.   This group of people are simply folks who are willing to give a few hours when available to help the club.   They have no desire to become part of the Lions organisation however they are public spirited enough to offer their help when they are free to do so and we inevitably manage to obtain the numbers we need.
If you are reading this and feel that you could, perhaps, respond to an appeal for a few hours in our time of need, please go to our   contact page and simply say "Add me to your Friends" - it couldn't be easier.

  • Our Town Calendars

The 2024 issue of our two town Calendars were based on the images from local artist David Purvis and were almost a sell out with only a few of the Olney version left at the end of our sales period and a complete sell out in Newport Pagnell. Thank you to all our Sponsors, Retailers and Customers!

Our Lions Toast

Our next Lions toast is on the drawing board and planned for November.

The hype around Whisky has seen the emergence of Scams galore along with genuine investment opportunities generating massive profits for sellers/investors.  Our Whisky Enthusiast John, organiser of these events is planning to run a session on what
is driving this interest, the pitfalls, scams and successes of those who have made/lost significant sums
in what we are calling, “Investment Times”.   We will also be running a “drink the dregs” evening when the remnants
of past events will be available along with an appropriate food course in our event which certainly can’t be described
as ‘pie in the sky!’   Should be an interesting and educational night!

If you would like us to keep you informed about this forthcoming (and future) event, please send us your contact details via our contact us page and we will keep you in touch with developments.

We're Recycling for the Environment

Our reducing and aging membership is forcing us to look at a range of recycling initiatives which helps us meet some of the major environmental objectives which Lions worldwide is actively promoting amongst clubs but which are not too physical.   These are relatively 'resource' sympathetic and most of our residents will be able to support us on one or more of them.   Have a look at what we are doing and how you can help us by clicking here.

Together we Can

Our International Director, Brian E Sheehan, has produced this short video to highlight the Countries, Clubs and Lions he has met during his year in office.

Pillars of the Community Curry Night

Following a very successful initial offering, we planned on running a repeat in July.    Unfortunately, sales were such that we were forced to cancel it at very short notice so apologies to anyone who had booked in with the 4 Pillars.

Motorama 2023

Motorama was back in town on 11th June when we had almost 100 classic vehicles joining us for this Annual Event run by the Lions club with support from Olney Classic Car club and our Friends of Lions.   Get more details, look at some photos of past events by  clicking here.  Our event was fully subscribed and we trialled an on-line booking form which was pretty successful.   Keep an eye on our website in the New Year if you would like to join us in 2024.

It all started in 1977!

The existing members knew we were founded in 1977, but what did the newly formed club do in it's first year?   A phone call received 'out of the blue' led to us receiving a photo album containing the first years record.  Click on the graphic above to see it.

When our activities were constrained by the Pandemic, we had a look though our photo album and have brought together a selection of photos showing some of the events we have been involved in during the lifetime of the club.

Why not take a browse through them and see if you recognise any of the faces from the past.
If you happen to have any photos which includes Lions, why not send a copy to us and we will see if we can add it to the collection.  Simply email a jpg version to nponleylions@gmail.com.
